The bar was opened in november 1999 by Petros "Don" Kontos (owner of numerous other clubs in munich e.g. "Cohibar Club", "C4", "Titty Twister", "Pogues Home", "Keller EG", ...) as munichs first cocktail-show bar. Suited with a cosy atmosphere, seperate lounge and comfertable leather sofas, Cohibar City was the no.1 place for enjoying drinks, cigars, latin music and of course dancing salsa.
However, in winter 2001 the number of guests was exceeding the capacities by far, giving Don Konti and his crew no other option as to remove the leather sofas (women were enjoying dancing on them with their beloved high heel shoes...), providing customers with more seats and space to dance, and slightly diverting the concept of the bar from a "loungy" cuban cocktail bar into the craziest latin-party place in town: girls dancing on the bar top, some of germany's best show-entertainment-bartenders flipping everything they can grab, DJs from brazil, portugal and puerto rico filling the place with pumping merengue, salsa, samba, latin house, all combined with fine drinks and cocktails, it didn't take long to get the attention of the general public:
-awarded as one of germany's best nightlife addresses by Playboy magazine, "...one of the top bars/clubs in germany..." - GQ Magazine, to be found on Global2night.com hosting only the best party places in the world
In addition to that, the bar also is a meeting point for the best bartenders in germany as well as international "legends" (for the cracks out there, check the "Bar Legends" pictures of our session with Neil Garner, Ian Bartos, Levent Yilmaz, Nino Drini, Fabio Milani, Hassan Sivrikaya, ...)
